This is powerful. Both Human Design System and the Gene Keys speak about deconditioning. I wonder, can they accept deconditioning from their own labels, profiles and charts?
Gene Keys? Yes, absolutely. System’s founder, Richard Rudd, speaks about it often. The broadness of the synthesis, universality of descriptions of the 64 archetypes and various approaches to their interpretation embedded in the system itself makes it quite flexible. I think it is able to still offer you something, even when you move beyond the “hologenetic profile“. As I have just done to my surprise!
Human Design System? Not really, but there are some “unofficial” Human Designs, and more and more are showing up. It seems like they have their own schism within the community of practitioners. I’ve already mentioned Zen Human Design, but recently (5.05.26!) I’ve stumbled upon Sidereal Human Design and it blew my mind (again!)!
Astrology – tropical vs sidereal – Western astrology vs Vedic astrology
I am no expert in astrology and I never felt called to go deep into its intricacies. But I love the concept of astrology – watching the clock of celestial bodies moving through the skies, impacting humanity on the collective and individual level. It makes me feel more connected with Nature and the Whole. I feel less lonely in my inner travels when I imagine myself as a tiny dot on a small planet surrounded by all these enormous, powerful forces moved by the universal, ancient, intelligent plan. To me, this crazy world seems less scary in such an environment.
We have access to more than one astrology system. I feel they are all complementary, but our beautiful, always searching, analyzing, calculating and labelling minds embedded in duality think of them as separate.
Western or Hellenic astrology is the one we all know best from popculture: fixed seasons of 12 zodiac signs with the Sun sign as the most important one. Vedic astrology observes the actual position of the stars, not the fixed positions, and puts Ascendant as the most important part of your birth chart. This is oversimplification, obviously, make your own research for more details!
For me the most important part is that Vedic astrology is an older tradition – the first written sources about it date back more than 5000 years. To be honest, I do not resonate well with ancient Indian traditions – I do not resonate neither with sanskrit-based mantras, yoga, nor Bollywood movies 😉 And yet, I respect deeply the Vedic tradition as one of the most ancient that made it to our times.

I worked with Human Design System since 2021. In 2024, on my journey inwards, it was replaced by The Gene Keys. The former, opened up my mind to new, exciting possibilities of interpreting human behaviour, and the latter brought me tools for opening up and working with my emotional and physical bodies. That was an intense ride through the inner realms! Not a gentle, meditative stroll as perhaps one could imagine the “inner work”. More like… a rollercoaster ride, which seems fun and exciting from the outside and at the beginning, but in the middle of it you just want to puke and “I’ll never do this again!” 😀
And yet, now my ride starts again, both systems are merging within me on a different level and it feels like one day this mixture can bring something new.
I was wondering why I am not interested in joining the approaching Sage’s Venus Retreat (if you never did one, I strongly recommend joining the retreat, even though I will not be there this time!), considering that since November 2024 I took all of them in a row! And I have my answer now: I am getting an entirely new ride, in a refined vehicle!

I am amazed that after seeing this, I did not get a feeling of shattering. After investing so much time into investigating myself through the lenses of these two systems, and so often getting the feeling “oh, that’s me!”, feeling that I truly “lived my design”… Now I have a different design to investigate and live, or what? Was all that time and money wasted?
The differences between the two are really substantial, from the 6/2 Manifesting Generator, single definition, with sacral authority and a very open design – according to Western astrology – I turn out to be (through sidereal lenses) a 5/3 Manifesting Generator with emotional authority, split but quite dense definition. It goes even deeper considering Human Design’s concepts of digestion, environment, interacting and taking in mental knowledge, etc. I got completely different set of labels and descriptions. And you know what.. “they resonate even better!” 😀
Confusing, isn’t it? So the question is – as always, over and over again – who am I?
Actually, the real question is – who is looking at both charts trying to discern who I am! 😉

There is a deeper meaning in Western/Vedic astrology differences becoming of interest to more and more people, and perhaps I’ll write more about it soon. For now the guidance is – enjoy all the systems you are using to get to know yourself, all your birth charts, profiles and horoscopes, wise teachers and good books. But remember that all that is just a map, just a bunch of labels that human mind needs to make sense of this world. Enjoy them, but do not attach to any of them!
You are not “this OR that”. You are “this AND that AND so much more”!
